I have a Blue Apogee III. I bought it in 1980, It was the best bong that I have. I just dug it out of storage, and it hits as good as I remember. I did find out that a company Xpogee is making something similar.
I bought a blue Apogee 3 in 1978 (along with a 38" glass carburetor), replaced it with a red one in 1979 after getting kicked football style watching the Superbowl. Lent that to a friend in 1981 who got pulled over with it in his car and the police poured the water into his back seat and then kept it. Bought a 2nd red in 1982 which I still have and use, best bong ever. Bought a red Apogee 4 around 1983 and still have it, travel bong, love it.
While they can be any color, the ones of the past were usually made of hues that knew how to be anything but subtle. Burgundy, forest green, and dark red were common colors used. click here
Still got my Apogee 4 folding bong in blue like the one in the ad pic above! Got it in the late 70s as a x-mas present from my aunt. Usin' it right now!
Hi to everybody in the chain, I was on the Dean's 'other' list when I started Apogee back in 1976 while at the University of Maryland. All Apogees were designed into geometric shapes and for specific reasons. I'm exceptionally pleased to read your comments and have considered making real, not knockoff, III's and IV's for people who appreciate them. It would be great to satisfy a community of bong lovers who appreciate design and quality in equal measure. If new-old Apogees would be of interest to you, please get in touch with me at apogeebong@gmail.com. Thanks, Bob
I had all 3 and wish I could find them again..I really miss the flipup
